DATA LOADING & QUALITY CHECKING
Import the raw data file into Petrel by right-clicking in the Input window and select ‘Import file’. Select the file type parameter ‘SEG-Y seismic data with preset parameters’ and select your seismic data file
Then, the coordinate reference system will prompt you to enter the area of the seismic data. As we were given an undefined seismic data set, we selected to ‘continue spatially unaware’.
Next is to ensure the data from the binary file is properly put into the header files of Petrel. Our seismic data volume is as follows:
The trace header files should correspond to the SEG-Y binary file. If it does, when we run the scan for the trace, the graphs should not be horizontal. If the graphs are horizontal, the trace headers must be checked again.
